Day Trips from Dubrovnik.

Private day trips by car to Montenegro, Mostar, Krka, Split, Korčula and Pelješac, with an English-speaking driver and pickup from your accommodation.

Border crossings and documents.

Croatia is in the EU and the Schengen Area; Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are not. Trips to those countries cross an external border, so every traveller needs a valid travel document.

Stays in Croatia · EU

No border crossing.

Cavtat, Ston, Split, Korčula and Krka stay in Croatia, so there is no border check. Carry a national ID card or passport, as you would anywhere in Croatia.

Who needs what: photo ID for every guest: a national ID card for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, a passport for everyone else.

  • No border control on the way
  • Easy to change or extend on the day
Crosses a border · non-EU

ID card or passport required.

Montenegro (Kotor) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mostar, Međugorje) are outside the EU, so the trip crosses an external Schengen border in both directions. Allow extra time at the border in summer.

Who needs what: EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can use a national ID card or passport. Everyone else needs a passport less than 10 years old and valid for 3 months after the trip. A single-entry Schengen visa will not let you back into Croatia. Children need their own document.

  • Your driver handles the vehicle documents
  • Non-EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System on return

The day by car, without the coach.

Your driver collects you from your accommodation and stays with you all day. You stop where you want for photos or coffee, arrive at the main sights before the tour buses, and have lunch where local families eat. The car is air-conditioned and the route can change on the day.

  • Door to doorPickup and drop-off at your accommodation.
  • Stops on requestViewpoints, wineries and coffee breaks.

Questions about day trips.

Do we need a local guide?
For Montenegro and Mostar we recommend booking a licensed local guide. Our drivers know the route well but are not guides. The guide is not included in the price and is charged separately; tell us and we arrange one for your date.
What’s included?
The trip includes the Mercedes luxury vehicle, an English-speaking driver at disposal for the entire day, fuel, tolls, parking and door-to-door pickup within the Dubrovnik area. National Park entrance fees, museum tickets, ferries (for Korčula by Land), meals and local guides are paid separately. For Montenegro and Mostar we recommend booking a local guide, since our drivers are not guides. We'll list them clearly in your offer.
Do I need a passport?
For trips that leave Croatia, yes: Montenegro, Mostar and Kravice, and Mostar and Međugorje all cross a border. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can use a national ID card or passport; all other nationalities need a passport. Trips within Croatia need only photo ID.
Does the car change with group size?
One booking covers the whole car: an E-Class for 1–3 guests, a V-Class for 4–7. Larger groups can be arranged with a second vehicle. The booking covers the whole vehicle, not per person.
What if the weather is bad?
Day trips by car go ahead in almost any weather, but we'll always advise if a particular trip is best moved (e.g. Krka in a downpour). You can reschedule freely up to 48 hours before, and we operate a flexible cancellation policy in extreme weather.

Day trips by car, boat trips on a separate page

The day trips from Dubrovnik on this page are by car, in a private Mercedes with a driver. If you knew our old website, where “day trips” meant island tours by boat, those are now on the private boat tours page.

Choosing among the day trips from Dubrovnik

  • Staying in Croatia: Cavtat and Konavle, Ston and Pelješac, Korčula (with a ferry from the Pelješac peninsula), Split and Krka National Park. Split and Krka are long days because of the distance up the coast.
  • Crossing a border: Montenegro with Kotor and Perast, and Mostar with either Kravice waterfalls or Međugorje. Bring an ID card or passport and allow extra time at the border in summer.

For the Montenegro day trip and Mostar, a licensed local guide is worth booking. Our drivers know the roads well but are not guides; we can arrange one for your date and list it separately in the offer.

Combining a car and a boat

A morning in Ston by car with the boat home along the coast, or a car to Konavle followed by a sunset cruise, can be planned as one day on the tailor-made tours page.
