Rules by nationality

EU, EEA & Swiss citizens

A valid national ID card or passport is accepted on every route, including Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. No visa is needed.

Visa-free passportsUK · US · Canada · Australia · NZ …

A passport is required for Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina; short stays are visa-free. To re-enter Croatia, the passport must be less than 10 years old and valid for at least 3 months after you plan to leave the Schengen Area. Since April 2026 your entry is recorded in the EU Entry/Exit System (fingerprints and photo) instead of a passport stamp.

Other passports

Check whether you need a visa for Montenegro or Bosnia and Herzegovina. A Schengen visa must be multiple-entry: a single-entry visa is used up when you leave Croatia and will not let you back in. Tell us your nationality when booking and we will confirm what to bring.

Children

Every child needs their own valid ID card or passport, including infants. A parent travelling alone with a child should carry written consent from the other parent.

Kotor before the cruise crowds, Perast almost to ourselves. Our driver knew exactly when to leave each stop, so it never felt rushed and never felt slow.

Mostar and then a swim under Kravice in the same day. The border was painless because they had planned the timing. Easily our best day of the trip.

Krka was breathtaking and the private car meant we left as the tour buses arrived. Door-to-door from our apartment, it could not have been simpler.

Questions about full-day trips.

Do we need a local guide?
For Montenegro and Mostar we recommend booking a licensed local guide. Our drivers know the route well but are not guides. The guide is not included in the price and is charged separately; tell us and we arrange one for your date.
What time does a full-day trip start?
Most full-day trips depart between 7am and 8am from your accommodation. An early start gives a clean border crossing for Montenegro and Bosnia, arrival before the coach crowds, and plenty of time for lunch and a swim before heading back.
Do I need a passport?
For Montenegro, Mostar and Kravice, and Mostar and Međugorje, every traveller needs a valid document. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can use a national ID card or passport; all other nationalities need a passport. Trips within Croatia (Split, Korčula, Krka) need only photo ID.
Are National Park and entrance fees included?
Not by default. Entrance and tasting fees are kept separate so you only pay for what you choose. We will tell you the expected total per person in your offer. Krka, Mljet and museum tickets in Mostar are typically paid on the day.
Can I customise a trip?
Yes. Most full-day trips can be adjusted, whether you swap a stop, add a viewpoint or finish at a different hotel. For a fully bespoke day, see our Tailor-Made Day Trips page.
