Dubrovnik airport to Old Town transfer: from landing to the gate
A Dubrovnik airport to Old Town transfer starts with a short walk through a small terminal. If your flight arrives from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control first; then baggage reclaim, the customs channel and the arrivals hall, where the driver is waiting. In peak summer the passport queue is the slowest part, which is why the waiting time matters.
The drive along the coast
The airport sits at Čilipi, on a plateau south-east of the city. The road runs north-west along the Adriatic highway above Župa bay, and the Old Town comes into view below just before the drop down towards the Ploče gate.
Tips for staying inside the walls
- The Old Town is pedestrian and many side streets are stepped, so wheeled cases only roll easily along the Stradun.
- Send your exact address; your host can tell you whether Pile or Ploče is closer to the door.
- There is no parking inside the walls, so if you plan to hire a car later, collect it on the day you need it.
- For the trip back, book the departure transfer at the same time and allow for summer traffic on the coast road.
If you are staying out on the peninsula instead, see the airport to Lapad car transfer. All arrival options are on the Dubrovnik airport transfers page, and the half-day private boat tour can board at the Old Port, a few steps from the walls. Quotes are itemised and sent by email or WhatsApp.
